Q: What are the installation methods of mmWave Radar?
A: The suggested installation methods of millimeter wave radar module include horizontal installation, inclined installation and top installation.

Top installation: bedroom, bathroom, etc.
Inclined installation: meeting rooms, large classrooms, etc.
Horizontal installation: somewhere in between.

Q: What is the highest installation height when the radar module is Top installation or Horizontal installation?
A: 2.75m.

Q: What is the detection angle of mmwave radar?
A: Detection angle of longitudinal narrow angle: 40°~60°
Detection angle of horizontal wide angle: 90°~110°

Q: What parameters does the human presence detection radar support? How long are the intervals?




From nobody to someone: ≤ 0.5s;

From someone to nobody: 1min~2min;


From active to static: 1~2s

From static to active: ≤0.5s


State switching between close/away/none: real-time

Movement Sign Parameters

Output once every 3s, the value range is 0~100, reflecting the magnitude of the human body's motion range

Heartbeat Package

Output once every 1 minute, including status information such as someone/nobody/static/active.

Q: What parameters does the sleep monitoring radar support? How long are the intervals?



Getting in/out of bed

State switching between getting in/out of bed: real-time

Awake/Light sleep/Deep sleep/None

State switching between awake/light sleep/deep sleep/none: Output once every 10 minute

(Note: It takes about one minute to determine state of getting in the bed, and about 3~10s to determine state of out of the bed. It takes 1 minute to determine state of getting in the bed to exclude the scene where people get up and leave immediately after sitting on the bed.)

Q: What are the factors that affect the accuracy of the judgment of the millimeter wave radar?
A:In a normal state, the radar will accurately determine the presence of human sitting state and sleep, and output information such as falls, breathing, vital signs, etc.

Phenomenon 1: The radar scanning area is too large, and the movement of people at the door or the movement next to the wooden wall is detected.
Adjustment method: reduce the sensitivity of the radar, the radar provides the scene setting.

Phenomenon 2: The air conditioner or fan in operation is directly under the radar.
Adjustment method: adjust the position of the radar, do not directly face moving objects such as air conditioners and fans.

Phenomenon 3: Object shaking caused by air conditioning wind.
Adjustment method: cotton, non-metallic items will not cause false alarms, but metal items need to be fixed.

Phenomenon 4: The radar is not fixed, vibration causes false alarms.
Adjustment method: fix the radar to avoid vibration.

Phenomenon 5: Pets, birds and other occasionally moving objects.
Adjustment method: due to the high sensitivity of the radar measuring micro-movement, this interference cannot be ruled out.

Phenomenon 6: Power interference, causing occasional misjudgments.
Adjustment method: try to keep the power supply current stable.

Q: In a manned environment, the radar is unmanned or under-reported. What are the possible reasons?
A: Radar uses electromagnetic waves to send and receive to determine the presence of the human body. The closer to the radar, the higher the accuracy.

Phenomenon 1: The human body is outside the radar range
Adjustment method: Please refer to the radar scanning range to adjust the installation angle. The radar measurement range is different in different environments, the electromagnetic wave reflection area is different, and the scanning area will be slightly different.

Phenomenon 2: Metal occlusion causes wrong output
Reason: Office desks, chairs and metal seats that are too thick will block the penetration of electromagnetic waves and cause misjudgment

Phenomenon 3: Scanning angle difference
Reason: The radar did not scan the torso, causing misjudgment

Phenomenon 4: Radar sensitivity is too low
Adjustment method: adjust radar parameters to increase sensitivity

Q: When a human presence detection radar is working normally, how long does it take to determine the unmanned state?
A: When there is no movement that interferes with its detection within the detection range of the radar, the radar will determine that there is no one in 1 minute to 2 minutes.

Q: Can I use 24G radar to measure the speed of an object and output the speed information?
A: In principle, 24G radar can measure the speed of an object. The bottom layer of the radar will analyze and eliminate the relevant speed model data, as the basis for judging various states, and output the relevant states. But for the radar, the speed has no specific direction, so the output speed information cannot be used normally, so the speed information output function is not used.

Q: Is the car radar on the market similar to our human presence detection radar?
A: The principles of car radar and human presence detection radar are different.
Car radar is similar to a telescope. It can detect moving objects at a relatively long distance and what the relative speed is, to confirm the environment around the car and the speed of the object.
The human presence detection radar is similar to a microscope, which uses radar waves to detect relatively small movements such as human movements and breathing, so as to obtain relevant data about the presence of people and make more accurate vital signs judgments.

Q: What communication schemes can the radar support, for example: zigbee, wifi, NB-IOT, 4G, etc.?
A: The radar itself has no communication function. The radar is a standard serial port output, and the relevant upper computer IOT can be developed according to the communication scheme required by the user. If you need to customize a program, please contact us, and we need to do the corresponding customized development.

Q: Is there a scenario requirement for a fall detection (FDS) radar?
A: There are scene requirements for fall detection (FDS) radar. There may be false alarms in places where lying or similar fall actions occur frequently (such as the bed in the bedroom, the sofa in the living room, etc.), so the FDS radar application scenario is more biased towards the bathroom and kitchen. The fall detection radar must be installed on the top. Its principle is based on the Doppler effect. The change of distance will cause the change of frequency. If installed horizontally, the distance will not change when the human body moves laterally, and the frequency constant radar cannot be measured, and false alarms are prone to occur.

Q: Can the human presence detection function be added to the 77G respiratory and heartbeat radar?
A: Our radar products focus on the health field and are a radar that reflects vital signs. What we have to consider is function, not 24G or 77G.
24G radar has low cost and focuses on basic functions such as measuring the human body's presence;
The 77G radar has a high cost, and it mainly focuses on measuring the difficult-to-measure items such as breathing and heartbeat.
The two algorithms are also different, and the human presence function is not considered for the 77G radar.

Q: Does the finished radar product have other platforms besides Tuya Cloud Platform?
A: There is also the Aliyun platform, but it is only used for normal testing, the interface is not beautiful, and the UI interface will be designed later.

Q: After a fall alarm is generated, can the radar notify the guardian via SMS or phone call?
