Alibaba's first futuristic FlyZoo hotel opened on December 18, 2018. This is a high-profile project that has been prepared in secrecy for over two years. Alibaba invited Wonderlabs to participate in the project to create artistic content for the massive screen in the hotel lobby.

The enormous screen in the lobby faces the main entrance and will be the first thing arriving guests see as they enter the hotel.

" natural serenity meets technological intelligence"

When someone passes by, millimeter wave radar sensor would catch it, and the islands representing different brands of Alibaba rise up from the ocean, there are 4 islands: Tmall island, Taobao island, Flypig island and nature island.

The human body is also sensed by the mmWave radar sensor even when someone stand still, and the screen content is a white waterfall, and it feels steady and calm. When someone passes by, white butterflies flutter out, bringing a sense of peace and ease.

Radar technology can sense the biological data of people, so it can realize someone is here, determine where they are located and sense the direction of any movement, thus making the screen show different content.

The PIR sensors require that there is no obstacles between the sensor and the target, but this is not necessary for radar sensors. Radar sensors can be placed behind construction materials such as ceiling panels, and can be placed out of sight of the guests.

Radar sensors can count the number of people in a room and determine where they are located. This data can be used to adjust the HVAC and lighting systems automatically to ensure the optimal balance of comfort and cost savings. This also removes interaction with high touchpoint areas, like light switches and thermostats, to further reduce the risk of transmission. In another example, sensors can send automated alerts to service bathrooms and lounge areas after a set number of visits. In our new normal, this is a helpful way to deliver a high level of consistency and cleanliness, without invading or disrupting the guest experience.

Let's take look at what the millimeter wave radar sensor looks like. Here's IR24VDA:

At present, this radar sensor modules have been used in Alibaba Future hotel. We believe more and more smart hotels will start to use this radar module soon. Let's work together for a more fantastic and intelligent future hotel.

Although we might not always know how to make it happen, we all want a better future.
